The use of ultrasonic vibrations for the cutting of bone was introduced three decades ago as an alternative to the mechanical and electrical instruments used in conventional oral surgery. It is a technique that lessens the risk of damage to the surroundings of tissues and important structures such as nerves, vessels, and mucosa.
 
Piezosurgery will be introduced in the present course to optimize the bone preparation to obtain the best result after the surgical procedure.

    • The attendees will understand and visualize many procedures using Piezosurgery, such as dental extractions, tori removal/osteotomy, nerve repositioning (lateralizationofthementalnerve), split ridge technique, block graft harvesting, andmore
    • The attendees will be generally informed as to the protocol of this technique
    • The attendees will be current on on-going studies regarding this technique 
    • The attendees will have hands-on practice on Extraction and Ridge Split utilizing Piezoelectric device
